How to Withdraw from the University

descriptions and instructions on withdrawing from the university

Withdrawing from all your classes is a tough decision to make. If you are failing some courses and are eligible to Q-drop, you may Q-drop one or more courses. In some instances, requesting "Incomplete" grades in your courses may be a more appropriate option for you.

However, if you have a situation that prevents you from doing your best, such as a long-term illness or an injury, financial difficulties, personal problems, or family emergencies that interfere with your ability to attend or finish courses, withdrawing may be the best choice.

You must obtain and complete withdrawal paperwork in Undergraduate Student Services or your grades will be reported as "F"s at the end of the semester.

You may not withdraw after the Q-drop deadline. If an emergency situation arises that interferes with your ability to attend or finish course work, you will have to meet with an academic advisor in Undergraduate Student Services to discuss your options.

If you withdraw on or before the 12th day of class, you must reapply to the University before you can return. If you withdraw on or before the 12th day of class, you may be eligible for a refund of some of your tuition and fees. The amount of refund you receive is determined by the actual date of your withdrawal.

To Withdraw from the University

  1. Come to Undergraduate Student Services to meet with an academic advisor to discuss your situation.
  2. Fill out a copy of the University's "Withdrawal Form" and the College's "Acknowledgement of Withdrawal Responsibility" before or on the Q-drop deadline date.
