How to Declare a Minor
Steps for declaring a minor
- To declare a minor from any department in the College of Liberal Arts, or a general business administration minor (BUAD), see your major advisor.
- If you have questions about the courses or opportunities available in a particular minor, first visit with the advisor for that department or minor program. This is particularly important for an interdisciplinary minor. Minors in Classical Studies, Comparative Cultures, Comparative Literature, Film Studies, Hispanic Studies, Religious Studies, or Women's Studies have a variety of courses to select from within several categories. If you decide to take a course offered by your major department to fulfill one of your minor course requirements, you must make plans to take an additional course or courses in your major, since courses taken to fulfill a minor may not also be used to meet major course requirements.
- Once you have decided on a minor and know what courses to take, ask your advisor to enter your choice in your degree plan in SIMS. The requirements will then appear in your degree audit and can be viewed in BONFIRE in the Degree Audit option (810).
