Looking for a Career?
By: Katie Gowryluk
Everyone has been asked the question “So, what are you planning on doing with your major?” . For many students this simple question opens the flood gates to full independence and life after college. Luckily, here at A&M, we have a great career center to help students answer this question. The career center is located in Koldus, and offers a multitude of services that can make students’ transitions into the ‘real world’ smoother.
You’ve surely seen the signs around campus advertising career fair information for students in Business, Engineering, and Sciences; now the Career Center is also offering many events focused on Liberal Arts majors. Most of these events will greatly help to focus the often confused undergraduate student in choosing a career path or simply offer better understanding for the opportunities that are possible.
Some of the services offered by the career center include help on Resume Writing, an online career search tool, as well as walk-in and one-on-one advising. A good resume is very important when it comes to the interview process for full-time jobs, and well as internships. Using the career center, even for something as simple as proofreading, is an invaluable tool, as a bad resume can have truly negative effects in the job world. All of these tools, combined with the many workshops and events offered through the career center can help make life after college, and the question of what to do with ones career much less intimidating.
To contact the career center, go to careercenter.tamu.edu or visit the Liberal Arts Advisors in room 209 in the Koldus Building, Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm.
