Class of 2012, I am a political science major with a possible double major in philosophy and minors in history and classics. I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and grew up in Flower Mound, Texas. I graduated from The Highlands School, a small Catholic prep school in Irving, Tx. I have always wanted to be a writer and my interest in politics started with my participation in Model United Nations starting in 7th grade and continuing throughout high school. Some day I hope to be a political journalist and write for either National Review or First Things. My hobbies include watching baseball, playing volleyball, reading, and politics. My dream job would be to become an ambassador to the Vatican or a presidential speech writer. |

Madiha Rizvi, senior Communication major Beat: Religion and Culture |
|
My name is Madiha Rizvi and I am a senior communication major from Beaumont, Texas. I wanted to participate in Student Reporter Project because I believe it is an avenue for growth, both for me personally and for the University. I will further hone my skills of writing journalistic stories under superb leadership and take knowledge that I gain and apply it. Also, the field of journalism has always been fascinating to me and I hope to become an ongoing presence in it. Ultimately, I want to become a lawyer or a journalist. The choice is not an easy one but writing has always been home to me. I have been working for the Battalion for about three years in a variety of roles but mainly as a reporter. I am involved in many cultural organizations and also the Regents Scholars Program. |
