Meimeth to speak on sustainability October 13

Michael Meimeth, director of the ASKO EUROPA-STIFTUNG (ASKO), a foundation located in Saarbrücken, Germany, and an international partner of the College of Liberal Arts, will deliver a special presentation on the foundation’s Encouraging Sustainability project, on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at 4:00pm in Glasscock 311. The lecture is free, open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
Meimeth is replacing ASKO’s President Klaus-Peter Beck, who was originally scheduled to talk.
Prior to his joining the foundation in 2000, Meimeth held academic positions as assistant professor at the Universities of Cologne, Trier and Saarbrücken. He has published widely in the fields of international relations theory, European security affairs, and Franco-German relations.
The Encouraging Sustainability initiative, which aims to chart a new course for sustainable development and intensify public discourse on the topic, is organized and sponsored by ASKO, the Forum for Responsibility Foundation, and the European Academy Otzenhausen. Following the talk, Meimeth will present a 12-volume collection on sustainability to the Melbern G. Glasscock Center for Humanities Research, the Borlaug Institute, and the Office of Sustainability, in recognition of their work in this area.
