8/7/07 - Lynn And McKenzie To Receive Awards From APSA Aug. 30
- Laurence E. Lynn, a professor in the George Bush School of Government and Public Service, and Brian D. McKenzie, an assistant professor of political science, will both receive awards from the American Political Science Association at the APSA annual meeting in Chicago, IL on Aug. 30.

8/2/07 - Arnold Krammer’s new book explores the role of gender in the Holocaust
- A 22 essay book about the experience of women during the Holocaust was released by Jagiellonian University Press in July 2007. It is the third in a series called The Legacy of the Holocaust and is co-edited by Arnold Krammer, professor history at Texas A&M University.

7/31/07 - Buenger, Hurley, and Street reappointed as heads in history, political science, and communication
- Three department heads in the College of Liberal Arts have been reappointed to another four-year term, effective Sept. 1. They are Richard Street in communication, Walter Buenger in history, and Patricia Hurley in political science.

7/3/07 - Memorial set for professor emeritus Becka
- Philosophy professor emeritus Richard Becka died at his daughter's home in Onalaska, Texas, of heart failure, Sunday. Becka had been with the philosophy department for more than 30 years. He is remembered as a loving family member, a first-rate medievalist, a devout Christian and a student mentor.

6/12/07 - Journalism Program announces scholarship selections
- The Journalism Studies program at Texas A&M University has awarded 10 students with endowed scholarships. Four students are using the funds to support their summer internship. The remaining six scholarships will be applied to the selected students’ tuition and fees during the 2007-2008 school year.

6/11/07 - Stjepan Mestrovic’s new book explores life of Croatian sculptor
- Even though he didn’t know his grandfather, sculptor Ivan Mestrovic, Sociology Professor Stjepan Mestrovic has tried to provide a more accurate portrayal in his latest book, Heart of Stone: My Grandfather, Ivan Mestrovic. The book was published by Mozaik Knjiga in Croatia and released the last week in May.

6/7/07 - Texas A&M English Professor Awarded Guggenheim Fellowship for 2007-2008
- Faculty members in the English department at Texas A&M University have started a new tradition: earning John Simon Guggenheim Fellowships. The department learned this past spring that Associate Professor Robert J. Griffin was awarded a Guggenheim for 2007-2008.

6/5/07 - New Liberal Arts program recognizes promising faculty members
- Dean Charles A. Johnson is pleased to announce the appointment of four inaugural Ray A. Rothrock ’77 Faculty Research Fellows in the College of Liberal Arts. They are Elisabeth Ellis, political science; Theodore George, philosophy; Hilaire Kallendorf, Hispanic studies; and Stephanie Payne, psychology. All four have been promoted to associate professor with tenure, effective Sept. 1, 2007.

6/5/07 - New interdisciplinary director appointments announced
- Five liberal arts faculty members have been appointed as directors or interim directors of interdisciplinary programs in the College of Liberal Arts. One program, international studies, offers a major, while the other four film studies, Africana studies, religious studies and Asian studies offer a minor. The directors’ terms begins Sept. 1 and are multi-year appointments.

6/4/07 - Bradford earns honor for service to maritime history organization
- The North American Society for Oceanic History has awarded James C. Bradford, associate professor of history at Texas A&M University, with the K. Jack Bauer award. The award recognizes Bradford’s distinguished service to the organization and his lifetime contributions to the field of maritime history.
