Proposal Review and Selection Process
Step I - IPAC: International Programs Advisory Committee
- Chair of Committee, CLLA Associate Dean Pam Matthews
- College of Liberal Arts internal selection committee
- Reviews and pre-selects faculty-led proposals to teach abroad.
- Recommends selected proposals to SAPPC.
- Makes recommendations to the Dean on the development and management of study abroad programs and student exchanges in the College.
- Also makes recommendations on College funding of salaries, curriculum and other related issues.
Step II - SAPPC: Study Abroad Program Policy Committee
- Chair of Committee, Dr. Linda Skrla
- CLLA representative on SAPPC, Associate Dean Pam Matthews
- A sub-committee of the International Programs Enhancement and Coordination Committee (IPECC).
- Acts in an advisory capacity to the Assistant Provost for International Programs.
- Reviews all international academic programs requiring THECB approval for formula funding and recommends such courses to the Provost for submission to the THECB.
- Functions as a peer review/oversight group for international academic programs, and ensures that the program offerings are balanced and coordinated at the University level and that they meet THECB guidelines.
- Also selects the slate of courses to be taught at anchor sites.
- Also makes determination of which proposals will be eligible for the Study Abroad Enhancement Fund (SAEF), which provides colleges with a portion of faculty salary funding during the program abroad.
