Communities
Introduction to Academic Communities
While there are numerous clubs, athletic events, and social
organizations available on campus, the College of Liberal Arts supports
and cultivates groups of students, faculty, and staff that convene for
the purpose of academic or professional enrichment. Some are affiliated
with larger state, national, or global organizations; others are unique
to our campus. Some have open membership policies; others (such as
honor societies) are available only by invitation or achievement of
minimal qualifications. Some require membership fees; others do
not.
In addition to communication between and camaraderie among people with
similar academic interests, membership may offer access to
password-protected websites or secure computer areas. Or it may provide
opportunities for research, travel, or workshops. It might even help
you secure funding assistance for a specific project, secure parttime
employment related to your field of study, or help you find your ideal
job.
