Larry Reynolds’ research is in the area of 19th century American literature and culture. Reynolds pursues his research and scholarly activities with assistance from the Thomas Franklin Mayo Professorship in Liberal Arts. In 2008, his book Devils and Rebels: The Making of Hawthorne’s Damned Politics was published by University of Michigan Press. He is currently completing a book under contract with Georgia University Press titled "So Like Murder": Political Violence and the American Renaissance.
